Buzz Nuse – The Last Round-Up (Buy, Dang It)

Booted from the contest after Week 1

This is a song done by Roddy’s boss (see below), the city manager of Round Rock, Texas (whose name is Jim on his day job). So, I knew Roddy would probably pick it. I think it’s his favorite of all Buzz’s songs. Buzz really is a cool guy.

Brandon Kinney – Smoker  (Buy, Dang It)

  • Roddy just competed in his first-ever barbeque cook-off. He didn’t place at all, but that’s okay. His Smoker rocks, and Brandon Kinney is a God.

Lil’ Joe – Dandelion in the Wind (Buy, Dang It)

Booted from the contest after Week 1

  • This guy is one of my own dang discoveries for HossTheBoss.com. He mostly plays the dives around Southern Brazoria County (where I live), so you’ve probably never heard of him, but you need too, definitely! But he plays a mean guitar, and I’ve never heard an original song from him that was amazingly well done. He’s also pretty funny, even though this song doesn’t necessarily show it.

Lil’ Joe – The Big Lie (Buy, Dang It)

Booted from the contest after Week 1

  • Hoss loves Lil’ Joe, too, and he really wanted me to pick this song from his CD, because he thinks it’s funny. But these are my damn picks. So I went with the other one. But, I like this song, too. So, Hoss is lucky that I decided to appease him by picking two Lil’ Joe songs. Lil’ Joe is definitely worth two picks, though.

Rufus Huff- Shirley’s (Buy, Dang It)

  • Yes, I know this song was in the June contest and didn’t make it past the second week. But Hoss told me I could pick it, again, so I did. Ya’ll need to vote for this song this time. (It was one of Luna’s picks last month.) It’s just bad ass! Ya’ll need to check out these guys Rufus Huff! Seriously! If you don’t vote for this song this month, Hoss will be right: You are, officially, a bunch of bastards! In case you missed last month’s show, you might not know that this band is one of the new projects of Greg Martin, the bad ass guitar player from Kentucky Headhunters.

About Me:

I’m Hoss’s niece, and I’ve been working on behind the scenes stuff for Hoss for several weeks (for free! Hoss needs to start making money on this damn site fast so he can start paying me!). One of our other relatives, Roddy Adcock, is a cop/music fan in Round Rock, Texas, and he was going to be one of the guest DJs for July, but his work schedule got changed at the last minute. So he won’t be available to be on the show for most of the month. So Hoss got me to stand in for Roddy, and I didn’t have time to find as many picks as I wanted to choose. So this is what you get! I really don’t like talkin’ on the air, (well, if I’ve been drinkin’ it ain’t so bad) but Hoss is going to make me. So that’s my story. Maybe Roddy will be able to do the show next month. He knows some good bands from around his neck of the woods, and I was going to pick them for this month’s show, but I think I’ll let him have the honor. Sorry if you’re reading this and were expecting Roddy to be pushing your song this month!
