Band of Heathens – Jackson Station (Buy, Dang It)

  • BOH is an amazing band out of Austin. I am embarrassed to admit that I only recently became familiar with their music when I saw them play live at the Continental Club in Austin in the spring of 2009. I can honestly say it was by far one of the best shows I have ever seen!!! I bought a CD at the show & have been a fan ever since. This is one of my favorite tunes off of their self-titled album that was produced by Texas living legend Ray Wylie Hubbard. I urge anybody to spend a few bucks to see them if the opportunity ever presents itself.

David Dewese – Dear Self (Buy, Dang It)

  • David Dewese has recently become one of my favorite artists. I saw him open for my buddies the Lost Immigrants at Love N’ War in Plano, Texas in November and I was instantly hooked on his unique style. He is originally from Mesquite, Texas but at some point relocated to Nashville. This song is off of his album “Make The Best Of It” and honestly it was difficult to pick a song because they are all so great. This particular tune he describes as a “break up song with one’s self”. It is incredibly clever & a great introduction to what is nothing short of an awesome CD.

Jerrod Medulla – Give Me A Chance (Buy, Dang It)

  • Jerrod is a very talented artist that I met at Loose Wheels Texas in Denison, Texas earlier this year at one of my gigs. He has been playing around North Texas and pushing his great original music for a long time now and he has currently achieved chart status on the regional charts with his awesome cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”. This tune is his latest single. I can say personally that Jerrod is a great performer/songwriter and he is equally as cool personally as the music he puts out. I hope everybody takes a few minutes to check him out and buy his new CD “This Time Ago”.

Josh Ingram – Night In New Orleans  (Buy, Dang It)

  • Josh is a very talented artist out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. He studied music for three years at the University of North Texas where a great deal of our most impressive local musical talent comes from. I have yet to meet Josh but I was instantly impressed when I heard his album and I believe he has a bright future in Texas music with his down to earth style of writing and performing.

Lost Immigrants – Baptized by Texas (Buy, Dang It)

I have been a Lost Immigrants fan for some time now as they were one of my prize picks in January of 2009. They are a local band out of Dallas but they have gained wide spread recognition for the great music they consistently put out. Incredible talent aside, they are also some of the nicest guys I have had the pleasure to meet in this “business” of making music and I’m proud to have introduced them to the Hoss The Boss listeners. My buddy Michael Scudiero who plays bass for LI chose this song off of their latest CD “Baptized” which was recorded live at Gruene Hall and Luechenback Texas. I recommend it to all lovers of great music!

Mike Zito – Today (Buy, Dang It)

  • Wow! … is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Mike Zito. He is so awesome and I am confident that the masses will agree with me upon discovering his music. He comes to us from the South Texas area. I met Mike in Blackhawk, Colorado when he was performing at a local casino. I was completely mesmerized by his live performance and his professionalism. This track is off of his album of the same name “Today”. Every single song is purely wonderful and I would love to just share the entire CD with you but unfortunately I am limited to just one pick… so please go check him out and buy all of it – you won’t regret it.

Robert Donahue Band -10 Penny Wine  (Buy, Dang It)

  • Robert Donahue is an emerging artist based out of Mansfield, Texas. This tune is his first release off of his debut CD “Eclipse” – released in July of 2009. Robert is a terrific performer and his CD is greatness. My main connection to Robert is that his album is produced by the talented visionary Greg White who produced my latest EP as well. I predict a very successful music career for Robert Donahue and I am This is a great song from one of my favorite bands!

Shootin’ Doubles – I Don’t Know What It Is  (Buy, Dang It)

  • Shootin’ Doubles is one of the best examples of the amazing undiscovered talent that can be found here in the Dallas area. They have a very unique and versatile sound that combines the Dallas Blues/Rock vibe while always paying tribute to the classic country styles that have long influenced them. Their front man and my friend Gus Samuelson also works in the radio doing weather, traffic and hosting a nightly program of underground blues and country favorites. They are super nice guys that make infectious music and I’m proud to introduce them to the Hoss The Boss audience.

Spur 503 – It’s All My Fault (Buy, Dang It)

This is a great song from one of my favorite bands! Spur 503 is a talented group of good ole’ boys from Denison, Texas that enjoy getting together for the purpose of making awesome music and just plain ole’ having fun! They primarily play all over North Texas and draw crowds of devoted Spur 503 fans and fans of Texas music alike. This particular tune is one of my favorites and front man Chance Cody admitted to me that it’s his favorite as well. You know what they say about great minds! Check them out at www.spur503.com!

The Mother Truckers – When I Get My Wings  (Buy, Dang It)

  • Okay, the girl in me may really take over here, so please forgive me! As a “fellow” female vocalist, all I can tell you is that Teal Collins voice on this track absolutely sends a wave of chills over my body and practically renders me to tears at times. Mother Truckers are one of my favorite bands out of Austin and this is them at their finest in my opinion. This song and the incredible performance of the band speaks for itself and other than the fact that they completely blow me away there is just nothing else to say. Enjoy!!!

About Me:

I grew up in music, raised by parents that played professionally 5-6 nights a week here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.  I distinctly remember sitting in front of the record player for hours at age 4 trying to sound like my favorite singer – Linda Ronstadt.  I began performing at age 11, by my early teens I was gigging 3-4 nights a week & continued to try to build a name for myself locally.  Most recently my husband Dave Moore (guitars) & I formed The Kat Moore Band and released our first CD, Big Texas Sky in March 2009.
