January 2010 Winners
Posted January 2nd, 2010 by Don Cudd (aka Hoss)
These are the Top Finishers for January, 2010. They’ll be moving on to the contest Finals in December. (Usually we have 5 finalist songs, but this month we have 6 because voting was accidentally left open longer than usual, and the votes that put Rebel Road ahead of Moonshine Bandits came after the noon Central time cuttoff.)

Dear Hoss:
Gee, after that snappy reply, please allow me to reiterate my appreciation for your obvious innate flair for politics.
That said, after slogging in the musical trenches for 37 years, I shall never leave the impression that I am ungrateful for anyone who attempts to promote our American music, particularly those, like yourself, who apparently just love the music as much as I do. Thank you, sincerely, for spreading the word about these unsung musical heroes who likely will never make it to the payola paved airwaves of Clear Channel and other cash for units monopolies.
As you indubitably understand, we are all on our own now to promote and preserve what is the best of our musical heritage. Maybe I’ll get a chance to play a song for you myself some day.

Wow, Sorry I missed the show today. I will try to never let that happen again. Congrats to Nancy and Congrats to My fellow Michiganders… All the songs in this contest were winners in my book and I am so glad that I got to hear some new outstanding music from every artist. I am a big fan of all of you and wish you all the very best. Thanks Hoss for making me a part of your show.
Cheers,
Lonny Ray

Since I can’t seem to reply to Theresa, I’ll close this out with the following…
If I had not sat in front of my computer from 11:00 on, hitting refresh at every second – I wouldn’t be posting anything or raising concerns – you wouldn’t have heard a peep from me…. so… for the record, my passion is not only because I am a fan of Nancy Apple but also because I saw the entire thing go down, knew what the outcome was and was totally shocked when I heard of a co-winner scenario because she had a 20-30 some odd vote lead over the 2nd place band…
It’s not about the “prize”, Nancy is our prize but it is about pure principle and fairness. She might and was willing to take the co-winner slot but her friends and fans felt differently so don’t hold our voices/statements against her as she was taking the high road…
My hat’s off to Hoss and Tony and whoever else cos’ Nancy said so…haha
According to her, they are cool and have helped her and other musicians in a big way. We need and appreciate that.
A bigger thanks goes to Curtice/Markley for stepping up and doing the right thing. I am sure they were watching it as closely as we were. I have a great deal of respect for what he/they did and said..
SHINE ON!!
With all due respect…

Wow, Tony, how many SC bands are you presenting next month? Was it three? Awesome! I grew up in Charleston and I’m sure the music will make me a little homesick (in a good way).

Hell yeah, of course I’m listening! Congrats, Nancy, and I’ll watch for the documetary!
