Mike Parrish Nominated for Texas Live Band of The Year

This just in from my friend Mike Parrish one of my guest DJs in the February 2010 Hossey Music Award Song Voting Contest Show. (And the 2nd place finisher in the 2009 contest with his song “Blue Jean Baby.”) I’m just pastin’ his dang email below:

“We asked YOU to help get us nominated for the 2010 Texas Music Awards and YOU DID!

“We’re very proud to say that out of 43,000 nominations YOU made us one of the TOP 5 BANDS in the entire State of Texas who were nominated for the 2010 Texas Music Awards LIVE BAND OF THE YEAR!

“Now that you’ve gotten us nominated we need your help ONE LAST TIME.

“The LIVE BAND OF THE YEAR award is decided by fan vote only. In other words, 100% friends and fans decide whether we win or not and no other boards, panels or judges are involved. This award is strictly up to you.

“We wouldn’t have received this extremely PRESTIGIOUS & COVETED nomination without your help so THANK YOU so very much simply for giving us the nomination for the biggest award of our careers!

“Now we just need your ONE-TIME vote to try to bag the award! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE NOMINATION & THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN HELPING US WIN THE 2010 TEXAS MUSIC AWARD for LIVE BAND OF THE YEAR!!

“Please vote for MIKE PARRISH & the PARRISH-HUNDLEY BAND!!

Okay… that’s the email Mike sent out to his fans. Now a note of endorsement from ole’ Hoss.

I don’t generally get involved with contests other than my own silly Hossey Music Award Contest (which I like to think of as somewhat of a parody of all other contests).  But the Texas Music Awards always find a way to give recognition to deserving musicians (and broadcasters) who get ignored by too many others. So, while I don’t see myself ever getting overly active with them (or lobbying to get one of their awards), I certainly dig what they do. And, in exchange for all the support and friendship Mike Parrish has shown my own little venture over the last few months, how could I not formally endorse him for this award?

For the sake of full disclosure, I am obligated to admit that, as I write this, I’ve not yet checked to see who the other Live Band nominees are. There are several other musicians that I would say are deserving of this award who have been very supportive of HossTheBoss.com, too, so I’m actually a little reluctant to check the site and see who else is nominated this year. If one of my other friends turns out to also be nominated for Live Band of the Year, don’t be surprised if I end up doing a co-endorsement or two.

See why I don’t really like contests (even though I host one), dang it? Geez! Life is hard sometimes.

After you’re done voting for Mike Parrish, make sure you go buy his dang Texas in the Man CD and/or go check out Parrish/Hundley live. That’s the best way to support the guys, dang it!

  1. Mike Parrish says:

Hey Hoss! On behalf of Sammy Hundley, myself and every one with Willow Street Entertainment, thank you so much for this extra push during the Texas Music Awards. When you’re able to check the site, you’ll find that there are several GREAT bands who have all been nominated for one of the 15 annual awards, some of which appear regularly on your show.

I’m looking forward to next year and hoping to see HosstheBoss.com among those internet broadcast nominees because you and this station (site) are certainly more than deserving!

We appreciate all your support and we’ll be looking forward to another great show this weekend!

Thanks for all you do to support independent artists,
    Mike Parrish
