Tony Kinsel & Friends Show Preview (Feb. 21 – 27)
Be sure to click on to HTB this Sunday from 7-9pm CT for the Tony Kinsel & Friends Show. I’ve been getting alot of requests for more music from Ruby Jane, so I’m going to play both of her cds again, Creekside & Live At Roadhouse Rags. I’ve also gotten in new music from Redneck Jedi and a new song from the Swedish group Rebel Road. If you missed my Valentine’s Day Show, be sure to catch the replay all this week. I spent the entire 2 hours playing every song I could find in the HTB music library with the word “Love” in the title. Turns out some of them were love songs, but some were not….

You couldn’t have picked 2 better CDs to play. This little lady is exceptional as a fiddle player and as Marty Stuart said: “She can melt a rock”. If you get a chance she’ll be playing a FREE show this Sunday 12-3:30 at Gruene Hall. I really don’t think she’ll be playing free shows much longer-I know I’d pay to see her.

Hey, you stole my line, Roger. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard her in person, but she’s even more awesome than she is on CD’s and videos. The best comment I’ve ever heard about Ruby is from my friend Buddy Wilson, who lives in Oregon (formerly lived in Austin), he’s a singer/songwriter/guitarist himself, and has only seen her videos and has her “Creekside” CD. After seeing her “Minor Swing” YouTube video recorded at the Kessler Theater in Dallas, he e-mailed me: “She is better than words can say, the American language has not a word that fits, it is in one’s heart, and that is where she comes from”. By the way, Ruby wrote the song “Smoke In My Eyes” (which is on the “Creekside” CD) when she was nine (yes, NINE) years old after her Mom burned some chicken in the oven and the smoke got in her eyes. Ruby also played on the Grand Ole Opry when she was nine. I’d say she’s a bit out of the ordinary!

I’m really glad to hear you’ll be playing those cds from The Ruby Jane Show. Since you picked her to be in this contest, I’ve visited her MySpace page, and become a friend of hers on there. She’s the best fiddle player I’ve ever heard!!! And to think, she’s only 15!!!
