Hoss’s November 2010 Hossey Award Picks
These are all the songs I’ve chosen for this month’s contest. I know thousands of independent musicians who are deserving of having their songs in this dang deal. So narrowing my picks down to just a few is always the hardest part of my month. Oh well. Such is life.
Special note: This month, because I’m still busy getting re-organized after a very hectic studio/home move, I’ve asked my great friend Charles Compton to make a lot of picks for me. His collection of independent musicians he is helping to promote (for free) is amazingly impressive. Ya’ll check him and his people out at www.reefriderproductions.com
Anthony Gomes – Music is the Medicine
Anthony is one of Chuck’s picks. Read all about him at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Anthony Gomes.htm
Barbara Blue – Toolbox Blues
Barbara is one of Chuck’s picks. Read all about her at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Barbara Blue.htm
Comeg – Please Save My Rock and Roll
Comeg is an Independent musician from the UK who has produced 6 critically acclaimed albums since the turn of the century, and this song is off his latest one, “Touched With Fire.” He sent me several songs from the CD, all of which will surely find their way onto HossTheBoss.com eventually, but I picked this one for this contest best, well, I’m all about songs that yearn for sanity’s return to the (music)world. Check him out at www.comegband.com
Dave Davies – Creeping Jean
Dave is one of Chuck’s picks. If his name rings a bell, that might be because he used to be with the dang Kinks! Read all about him at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Dave Davies.htm
Dutch Tilders – Going on a Journey
Dutch is one of Chuck’s picks. Read all about him at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Dutch Tilders.htm
George & Kitty Terry – Eyes on You
Yes, this is the same George Terry who played for many, many years with Eric Clampton. He and Terry live in Florida where Kitty is starting to promote her own dang music. Terry’s song “Don’t Go Wanderin’” made it to the Finals back in July, and I figured it was time we went ahead an sent a little love out to George too. So, Chuck Compton sent me this song from BOTH of them. Read all about George and Kitty both at www.reefriderproductions.com.
Human Project – Workin Too Hard
The Human Project is one of Chuck’s very cool picks. Read all about them at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Human Project.htm.
James Macon – Wind on the River
James Macon is from Liberty, Texas and he bills himself as “just a back to basics kinda guy.” Perfect for my dang’d ole’ station. Ya’ll need to support this very cool guy. Check him out at www.reverbnation.com/maconmusic
Joe is one of Chuck’s picks, and this is as perfect a song as can be played on a station like this silly one. Read all about him at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Joe Merrick.htm.
Layden Robinson – Someday
Layden Robinson plays in a band called Acoustic Soul, but this song is from his first solo album, “Music Meets Emotion” that he finished this year. I put another song from his CD in the contest in September, but it got eliminated very early on. I think one of the reasons for that is that I neglected to mention here in these notes that Layden is accompanied on this dang CD by his friends Jason Southard and Ryan Baker who play in Christian Kane’s live band. A lot of Kaniacs pay close attention to this silly little contest each month, so, dang it. Ya’ll know what you need to do for Layden, right? Check Layden out at www.myspace.com/laydenrobinson
Orianthi – Courage
Orianthi is one of Chuck’s picks. Read all about her at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Orianthi.htm.
Paul Lamb – Come to the Conclusion
Paul is one of Chuck’s picks. Read all about him at www.reefriderproductions.com/Artist/Paul Lamb.htm
