Cody Angel–Red House
(Port Aransas, Tx.)

Cody Angel is from Port Aransas, Texas, playing Blues & Rock Music. The 17 year old guitar phenomenon has been in several contests here on HTB, the last one last January. He says on his ReverbNation page that he loves to play the Blues, and only plays enough Rock music to get gigs so he can play the Blues. I chose his cover of the famous Jimi Hendrix Blues song “Red House” for his entry in this month’s contest. Cody Canada & The Departed–Ballad Of Rosalie
(Austin, Tx.)

Cody Canada & The Departed are from Austin, Texas, playing Red Dirt Music. Of course, every one who is into the Texas music scene knows who Cody Canada is, from his years playing with Cross Canadian Ragweed, which has now decided to part ways. Cody has now formed The Departed, with his old friend and CCR bandmate Jeremy Plato on bass, Seth James on guitar, Steve Littleton on keyboards & B3 organ, and Dave Bowen on drums. For their entry in this month’s contest, I chose the song “Ballad Of Rosalie” off their debut cd “This Is Indian Land”, which Cody says is a tribute to the greats of the Oklahoma Red Dirt Movement. Cody Gill Band–King Of Your Hometown
(Stephenville, Tx.)

The Cody Gill Band is from Stephenville, Texas, playing Alternative, Texas Country & Southern Rock Music. Cody Gill has been playing music for more than a decade now, and has 2 full length cds, and 1 EP cd to his credit. The Cody Ives Band is from Little Rock, Arkansas, playing Country & Southern Rock Music. They’re a 6-man band, featuring Cody Ives on vocals, Steve Zimmerebner on lead guitar, Aubry Montgomery on guitar, Chris Johns on bass, Johnathan Beech on keyboard, & Rex Furry on drums. I had the CIB, as they’re called, in last month’s contest with a song called “When We Roll”, which made it to 10th place. This month, I chose their song “Rainy Day” as their entry. Cody Johnson Band–Pray For Rain
(Huntsville, Tx.)

The Cody Johnson Band (also known as Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB) is from Huntsville, Texas, playing Texas Country & Red Dirt Music. They’re a 6-man band, consisting of Cody Johnson, Nathan Reedy, Matt Rogers, Danny Salinas, Jody Bartula, & Jeff Smith. CoJo, as he’s called, says on his website that “I don’t want to be labeled as “Texas” or “Nashville”. I am me: Texas, outlaw, cowboy, country, and a God-fearing man, using the gift He gave me.” I chose the song “Pray For Rain” off their “Six Strings, One Dream” album, as their contest entry this month. It made it to #1 on the Texas Music charts from 2009-2010. Cody McCarver–Outlaws & Trains
(Dunlap, Tennesse)

Cody McCarver is from Dunlap, Tennesse, playing Country Music. Cody has had several top 20 singles since he released his self-titled cd in 2007, “Red Flag”, “White Trash With Money”, and “I’m America”, featuring Charlie Daniels. Cody’s song “Through God’s Eyes” (about his parents Bill & Delilah),  has spawned a documentary film entitled “Cody McCarver Behind The Walls”, which was shot at the penitentiary where Cody’s father is incarcerated. Cody is currently working with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America program that deals with children of inmate parents. For his entry in this month’s contest, I chose his new single release “Outlaws & Trains”, which is featured in the soundtrack of a movie called “Cole Younger And The Black Train”, that’s due out the middle of this month. Cody plays Cole Younger in the movie, which also features Michael Madsen. Cody Rentas Band–Leave
(Seattle, Washington)

The Cody Rentas Band is from Seattle, Washington, playing Blues & Rock Music. They’re a 4-man band, consisting of Cody Rentas on  guitar & vocals, Rick Doyle on bass, Lee Rentas on drums & vocals, & Scott Schmeckpeper on keyboards & vocals. Cody started playing guitar at the age of 6, and now, at 19, has turned himself into just about the hottest singer/songwriter/guitar player in the northwest United States. When I asked for permission to play his music, he was all for it, wanting his music to be heard in Texas. He also sent me a number of songs off his current cd, including the one I chose for this month’s contest, a Blues song called “Leave”. The Cody Riley Band is from Canton, Texas, playing Texas Country Music. They’re a 4-man band, consisting of Cody Riley on lead vocals & rhythm guitar, Kenny Daniel on bass guitar, Cye Carter on lead guitar, and Chevy on drums. Cody is the winner of the 2009 Texas Music Awards Rising Star Award. I’ve chosen the title track of their cd “Small Town RockStars” for their entry in this month’s contest. Cody Robbins Band–Barflies & Bud Light
(Bowie,Tx.)

The Cody Robbins Band is from Bowie, Texas, playing Texas Country Music. They’re a 5-man band, consisting of Cody Robbins on vocals & rhythm guitar, Cody’s father Jerry on steel guitar, Scott Huckabee on lead guitar, Tracy Frerich on bass, & Boyd Dixon on drums. The CRB (as they’re called) have been getting national attention since the release of their debut cd in 2010, “My Inner Hank”. I’ve decided to use the song “Barflies & Bud Light” off of that cd for their contest entry this month. About Me:

I got started in broadcasting during my stint as a Signalman in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era, working part-time as a DJ and newsman for a ship-board Armed Forces Radio & TV station on the USS Truckee out of Norfolk, Virginia.  After being honorably discharged in 1979, I became a mainstream radio DJ and News Director in the Corpus Christi area for over 25 years on 9 different stations, including all 3 of the country-western ones. During that time I received 4 news broadcasting awards, 1 from the Associated Press & 3 from United Press International. I spent the last 5 years of my “career” on KFTX in Corpus Christi, constantly fighting with the program director over having to play their narrow top-ten Nashville music playlist of songs, when I really wanted to play Texas Music. I was finally shown the door after I played a Christmas-time phone request for Robert Earl Keen’s “Merry Christmas From The Family”, which was definitely not on the station’s playlist, (I really hate that word!). Now that I’m on HossTheBoss I can play what I want. Listen to my own dang show on the station every Sunday night at 7 p.m. Central.
