'Professional Free' is the way to go!

The other day a friend and I spent an hour or so researching the legality of a business project he has in mind. When we were done, we had a good idea of how the project should proceed for best legal results. But, just to be safe, my friend paid a lawyer $250 to confirm our ideas. Two weeks later, the lawyer mailed a report that we could have written better ourselves. Geez! Such has been my life-long experience with "professionals" of all types -- from accountants to web designers. And that's why I run my site (and my life) "professional free." I would love to help you do the same. All of the stuff below can help. -- Hoss

Hoss's Quick Tips and Links

Any Business
Especially for Bands
Set up a website: Sell Your Music:
  • HossTheBoss.com uses HyperMart for it's web hosting. Great, stable company. Easy to use. Inexpensive. And, unlike with some other major hosting services, it's very flexible. Your site can be as simple or as sophisticated as you need.
  • There's plenty of places to sell your Mp3s and CDs on the net. But here's three of the best for Indie musicians: Hoss's own music store, CD Baby and LoneStarMusic.com . No excuses for not being on these and others! Get your music out there!
Build your web presence: Get radio Airplay:
  • There's a lot of services out there that charge you outrageous amounts to submit you to hundreds or thousands of radio stations. Be careful about wasting cash! musicSUBMIT.com is probably the best deal out there. (And it's the only service that HossTheBoss.com pays attention to.)
Marketing on a shoestring: Get Gigs
  • The classic book series Guerrilla Marketingwill help and inspire. All of the books are worth your time.

Please note: HossTheBoss.com is an affiliate of several above websites. That means, besides recommending them, Hoss also makes a little money when you click the above links and order their services. That helps keep HossTheBoss.com running! The affiliated sites are HyperMart , Guerrilla Marketing, Search Engine Optimization for Dummies, and musicSUBMIT.com .

Hoss started this site in 2006 and owns the copy right to this whole deal. If you have use for something on the site, just give Hoss credit (and a link if possible), and you can use it for free. Hoss is easy. This site is powered entirely by Hoss (yep, he figured out how to do all the web design and programming by himself by spending millions of hours expirementing since about 1997). While you're down here reading all this, we thought we'd toss in a link to Hoss on MySpace. Oh yeah, stop by to say hi to Mrs.Hoss on MySpace, too. And, speaking of Mrs. Hoss, buy some Mary Kay from her, dang it.
