Hoss's Life in Corporate Radio Section

Hoss never had the nightmarish pleasure of working for corporate radio giants like Clear Channel or Cumulous or whatever. But he worked for a lot of wannabees that were just as bad or even worse (even in small towns). And, for a time, he was even an apologist — if not a downright supporter — for the evil, arrogant, stupid ways of corporate radio. As a reformed corporate-style guy, Hoss has plenty to say about his years in the biz, and this section is where he says it as it comes to mind.

How Hoss Got His Stupid Name

Changing one’s perfectly good name is a weird tradition in radio. I was christened as “Hoss The Boss” in 1992 by one of my radio bosses. By the time I got fired from my final “real” radio gig in 2006, I had a decent little following as “Hoss,” so it just made sense to use that name for this site. (It was either that or try to come up with a few extra thousand dollars to pay to promote the thing at the beginning.)

I often wish I wasn’t Hoss, though.
