Sunday, May 20th, starting at 7pm CT, on The Tony Kinsel & Friends’ Show, I’ll put on the entire interview Hoss & I did with Cody Canada, formerly of Cross Canadian Ragweed, now the front-man for The Departed. The interview is close to 30 minutes longs, and touches on several things, like the storys behind the songs “Ballad Of Rosalie”, and CCR’s “51 Pieces”. Cody also told us about his future plans with his new group, The Departed, such as a new cd in the works, and a Texas Music concert in Canada this summer where they’ll be playing. Following the interview, I’ll play the whole “This Is Indian Land” cd from Cody Canada & The Departed. It’ll be an evening you won’t want to miss, so don’t!!!

Hossey Award Contest Show On Hiatus

Sorry everybody. A lot of stuff is going on behind the scenes these days. Too much stuff, in fact.

So we’re putting the Hossey Music Award Song Voting Contest Show on hiatus for a few weeks (at least until June 1). We’ve done this before, and the show always comes back with a bang. You can expect the same this time.

While you’re waiting, Tony Kinsel’s live show will still go on as usual (technical difficulties not withstanding) at 7 p.m. Central Time on Sundays, and the live stream will feature music from the contest, as usual.

Talk to ya’ll in a few weeks.

Most months on the Hossey Music Award Song Voting Contest show we do interviews of bands in our Top 10 during the second-to-last show of the month. Well, April was a tough month, and we had to cancel our last two shows. But, luckily, before we canceled anything, Tony Kinsel and Hoss had already pre-recorded a fun little interview with the legendary Cody Canada. This interview never had an opportunity to air on the station, but don’t let that stop you from downloading it right now.

Hossey Music Awards Song-Voting Contest, in this order: 484 South Band–I Drown; Annika Horne w/The Brian Piper Trio–Blue; Chaparral–Down To The River; Chicken Pot Pie–Beg Steal Borrow; Chris Tardiff & Showdown–Hillbilly Bone; Hellcat Susie w/Jason Boland & Mike McClure–I’ll Fly Away; Karen Collins & The Backroads Band–No Yodelin’ On The Radio; Scufflegrit–Walker County Coal; Shane Howard Band–Lick It, Slam It, Suck It; The B’Dinas–Five-Day Weekend; The Kickin Grass Band–Hometown; The Morning After–To Love A Machine; The Roadhouse Clams–Lauderdale Stomp; The Wild Orchids (Michelle & Melinda)–Can’t Bring You Home; & The Trevor Cole Band–She’s Better When She’s Bad. After I play these 15 songs, I’ll play more music from these same fine artists, so “Don’t Miss “Em, Dang It”, as Hoss has been known to say!! (The reason I’m now saying these picks are for June’s contest with a question mark, is that Hoss has been having some behind the scenes issues, and, at this point, can’t even say for sure we’ll be back in June. We can only hope!) The last couple of Sundays, I’ve been unable to do my show, thanks to technical problems with the site. I’m going to try this one more time on May 27th!!

April 2012 Hossey Award Contest

Well... more bad news for the April edition of the Hossey Music Award Song Voting Contest Show! Hoss's brother-in-law Clyde Scherdin (a quiet-but-devoted fan of the show) passed on Thursday after a tough fight with cancer. Accordingly, the final show of the month, planned for April 27 at 2 p.m. Central, has been canceled so Hoss can devote that time to supporting Clyde's many friends and family. This means, of course, that the April contest has ended anti-climatically without benefit of a live show. But, alas, that's life. Click here to see our Top 5 finishers from the April show -- and, in light of all the problems we had in April, the following contestants will be back in May: Laney Merideth, Dennis Gurwell, Alec Berlin, Susan Gibson and probably at least one or two others. The May contest will begin with our first live show of the month at 2 p.m. on May 11 (yes, that means we're devoting the week of May 4 to maintaining our computer and updating our site!)
